WriteNow.Media is the practice of John Paul Lumpp — writer, researcher, and publisher. Across more than 30 years, the work has spanned a wide range of businesses — aviation, construction, entertainment, and retail among them — along with numerous trade publications. Through all of it, one conviction has held: good writing is a research problem before it is a language problem.
Clients come here for three reasons. Businesses need someone who can read a spec sheet and interview an engineer, then explain the product in plain English. Families need someone who can read a census schedule, a ship manifest, and a parish register, then turn names into people. And authors need a collaborator who has been through the publishing process and knows where the manuscripts go to die.
The proof of that approach is Gunns in America — fifteen years of research into one family line across 400 years of American history. The project has produced a research website at gunnsinamerica.org, an ongoing newsletter at gunnsinamerica.substack.com, and a book — The Gunns in America — now in editorial review. It is the full arc of the work in one project: records found, lines traced, and a family's story written down.
